What happens if it rains all week?

We can't control the weather, but we can control the FUN! Our activities team plans alternate camp games for rainy days. We also offer special events if the Tuesday camp-out is canceled or if the Thursday bonfire is canceled. Without giving away the surprise or causing campers to pray for rain--let's just say that the alternatives are very cool!

Can my child request more than one cabin partner?

Yes! We will try to put campers in the same cabin as requests are made. Sometimes, we are not able to honor all requests because of space but we will do our best!

Can I come visit my child during the week?

For safety reasons, we limit guests on the premises during summer camp. We encourage parents to communicate with their campers by e-mail or through care packages during the week. You can e-mail your camper at camper@camppinnacle.org. Be sure to put the WEEK attending, your camper's FULL NAME and CABIN COUNSELOR'S NAME (if known) or PARENT'S NAME in the subject line to help us with a timely delivery. Parents are invited to attend the Closing Ceremonies of camp each Friday night.

How much spending money should I send?

Pathfinders only spend money at the Snack Shop during Flex and Unwind time. Snack Shop food is 2.00 or less per item. Pinnacle gear, one-use cameras, hats, etc. can range between 3.00-11.00 per item. Trailblazers may choose to spend money on paint ball. Campers taking crafts may also choose to purchase a T-shirt to tie-die or cardinal level supplies. Generally 25.00-40.00 is a good amount. Campers do not carry money. The money is turned at Check-In and the campers are issued an account. All unused money is returned at Closing. You can avoid the Camper Account line at Registration by prepaying online, by phone, or by mail. Gap kids will need money for laundry.

How can I contact someone after-hours in case of emergency?

In case of family emergency, you can contact the main office after hours (518-872-9100). During summer camp weeks, there is an emergency option to page a staff member. Follow the voice instructions.

What is the procedure for prescription and nonprescription medicine for campers?

At Camper Registration, you will meet with the Camp Nurse to give her any medicine and medical instructions for your child. Please give all medications to the Camp Nurse at check-in. We recommend that you put together a medical kit for your camper which includes any over-the-counter medicine which may be needed. Due to increasingly stringent health code regulations, we are unable to administer any medications that you do not send for your child. A kit may include Tylenol, Pepto-Bismol, prescription medications, etc. The Camp Nurse can only administer medicine that you send for your child.

Who participates in Camp-Out Night?

All overnight campers participate in one Camp-Out unless there is inclement weather. Supplies are provided for this event. All Camp-Outs take place on Pinnacle Property at designated locations.

Is there a Talent Show this year?

Yes! Campers are encouraged to participate in a weekly Talent Show. They may bring costumes or supplies from home or raid the Pinnacle Costume Closet and use our equipment. Equipment provided includes: Drums, Keyboard, acoustic guitar.

What happens if a camper wets the bed?

Counselors are trained during staff orientation on how to handle bed-wetting. The counselor will quietly and quickly find new linens for the camper's bunk and help the camper clean up. A routine bathroom schedule will be set to prevent future accidents. The Camp Nurse will wash the camper's linens the following day during skill/Bible classes. If parents have specific ways they would like this situation handled with their campers, please let the counselor or Camp Nurse know.
